First Day
For the next ten months I will be calling the Kiryat Shalom neighborhood of Tel Aviv my home. It is located in South Tel Aviv just east of Jaffa. The apartment I will be living in is very nice. It has a great balcony and a fantastic rooftop area. I will be living with nine other people from the United States, Germany, and Israel. I am sharing a room with another American from Alabama. It should be very interesting having a roommate from Alabama. He has already called me a Yankee. Today we met the staff and our track coordinator Sarah. She is very nice from the interaction I have had with her so far. The rest of the participants seem very nice and I am really excited to get to know all of them more. The weather in Tel Aviv is extremely hot and humid. As I type this post I am sweating profusely but it is just part of the experience. I am really excited to get to know Kiryat Shalom and the rest of Tel Aviv-Jaffa more so I can explore its many wonders. Luckily there is an ATM, produce stand, and a small market/convenience store below my apartment so food, drinks, and other things are within walking distance.I have already had the ubiquitous falafel for lunch today. Just how not great pizza is still good, decent falafel is still good. The regular schedule will start on Sunday so I cannot wait to start. Pictures of the apartment and the area will be coming soon. I am still getting use to the time difference which is 7 hours ahead of Boston. More adventures are to come so keep posted.

Hi, David, sounds like you are exploring all the resources in your neighborhood. Also would love to hear more about the people you are living with. Please do not feel compelled to call me everyday....however, would like to Skype at least once a week. You are living your dream...xoxo, Mom
