Drinktime: Goldstar

The Israeli beer market is very small. There are a few microbreweries such as Alexander, Malcha, Dancing Camel, and Negev to name a few. These brands however are not available at almost every store that sells beer. Goldstar takes the cake in this situation. Walk into any store and look into the beer fridge and you will find Goldstar available. You will also find Goldstar on tap at most drinking establishments as well. Its the beer many Israelis go for when they want to quench their beer thirst. It is is a typical pale lager and very easy to drink. It  is a great option as the national beer because it is not some light beer crap that is found back home in the United States. In the United States, mass produced beer is mostly crappy light beer or just tastes stale. Goldstar tastes like beer which is why it is loved so much. It is interesting to note that here in Israel, light beer does not exist. If you are at a bar in Israel and ask for a light beer, the bartender will think you are insane. So if you are in an Israeli bar and want to try an Israeli beer that you will keep going back to, try Goldstar. Enjoy!
