Mealtime: 24 Rupee

In South Tel Aviv among the industrial buildings and  motorcycle shops, you would be hard pressed to find an Indian vegetarian restaurant. Well that is where you will find 24 Rupee. Located at 16 Shocken St in South Tel Aviv, 24 Rupee is a great place to eat if you like Indian cuisine. It is pretty discreet so you might drive or walk right by it. Walking up to the restaurant you are welcomed by Indian music, pictures and very vibrant colors. When you head into the restaurant you are asked to take off your shoes and you are led to a table low to the table. The idea is that you sit at couches or on cushions. For an appetizer you could have samosas , which are filled pastries with vegetables and either fried or baked. For your entree you have a choice between a few Tali meals. A Tali meal is what I got. It is a traditional Indian dish that is divided into many sections for a diverse eating experience. It came with rice, a samosa, curried potatoes, spiced eggplant with green peas, curried lentils, and chapati and a pappadam. Chapati is a thin Indian bread, while a pappadam is a thin and crispy bread made from lentil flour. The Tali meal came with a spiced tomato sauce and a yogurt raita. For just over 50 shekels for the tali meal, it is a very affordable option for a dinner out in Tel Aviv. It was great because it was affordable and the restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere. I would highly recommend checking out 24 Rupee.
